A bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle Wednesday in Desert Hot Springs, and police are investigating it as a hit-and-run collision.
The victim, a male adult who has not been identified, died at the scene the crash reported at 5:45 a.m. at Two Bunch Palms Trail and Cholla Drive, according Desert Hot Springs Police Chief Jim Henson.
Responding police officers found the man dead and a totaled bicycle nearby.
Henson said crashes involving bicycles are uncommon in the area, which is relatively undeveloped.
Two Bunch Palms Trail was closed between Cholla Drive and Little Morongo Road for the investigation. Henson said the roadway would probably reopen by 11 a.m.
