A 49-year-old man was struck and killed by two motorists who failed to stop in South Los Angeles, police said Saturday.
The pedestrian was walking westbound on Vernon Avenue Thursday night when he was struck by a light-colored SUV just east of Wall Street — which launched him into the eastbound lanes of Vernon Avenue, where he was struck by a light-colored Dodge Charger, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.
Officers responded to the crash scene at about 10:25 p.m. Thursday. Paramedics rushed the victim to an area hospital with multiple blunt force trauma injuries. He died shortly after his arrival.
Police said both drivers failed to stop, identify themselves or render aid.
LAPD Central Traffic Division detectives urged anyone with information regarding the crash to call them at 213-833-3713.
