Authorities Wednesday identified one of two men who died at the scene of a shooting at a residence in Burbank that left a woman critically wounded.
The shooting was reported about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of Cambridge Drive, near Bel Aire Drive. Edward Lopez, 34, was found in the driveway and died at the scene. His city of residence was not known, according to the coroner’s office.
The coroner was withholding the name of the other fatally wounded man, who was in his 40s, pending family notification. He was found inside the residence, along with the wounded woman and three children, and was also pronounced dead at the scene.
Burbank police Sgt. Derek Green said officers arrived to find Lopez in the driveway suffering from at least one gunshot wound, and one of the officers began rendering aid pending the arrival of paramedics.
As other officers approached the house, they heard screaming, according to Green, and learned that three children, all under the age of 18, were inside.
“Police officers were led into the house where they found two additional adults, a male and female, also suffering from gunshot wounds,” Green said in a statement released Tuesday.
The woman, whose name was withheld, was taken to a trauma center “in critical condition with life-threatening injuries,” he said.
The pair found inside the residence were believed to be a married couple who lived there, along with the children, who were unharmed and were taken into protective custody. It is unclear what relationship, if any, they had with Lopez.
A weapon was recovered at the scene.
According to a broadcast report, the case is being investigated as a possible domestic violence incident and police are not looking for any suspects.
Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the Burbank Police Department Investigations Division at 818-238-3210.
