A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle and killed Wednesday in Huntington Beach, and the motorist was arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired, police said.
The 26-year-old man was injured about 12:20 a.m. at Springdale Street and Croupier Drive and died at the scene, said Huntington Beach police Sgt. Joshua Page. His identity was not immediately released.
“The driver, a 22-year-old female, was located nearby with her vehicle,” Page said in a statement.
“The initial investigation shows the driver was northbound (on) Springdale Street when she struck the pedestrian, who was crossing eastbound north of the intersection of Croupier Drive,” Page said.
“The driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation and was ultimately arrested for DUI,” Page said.
Anyone with information on the case was urged to call Huntington Beach Police Traffic Investigator D. Demetre at 714-536-5670.
