A 40-year-old man was charged Tuesday with second-degree murder in connection with a fatal crash in Irvine.
Antonio Calixto Navarrete was also charged with felony hit and un with permanent and serious injury and driving with a blood-alcohol level over the legal limit of .08%, according to court records.
Navarrete, who was being held without bail, was scheduled to be arraigned sometime Tuesday in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana.
He was behind the wheel of a Ford F-150 that collided with a Hyundai Elantra at Main and Culver in Irvine at about 8:45 p.m. Saturday, according to Irvine Police Sgt. Karie Davies. Navarrete drove away from the crash scene but was stopped a short distance away, Davies said.
Isadora Stabel, 20, of Irvine, who was a passenger in the Hyundai, was taken to an area hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
