A $5,000 bench warrant was issued Wednesday for the arrest of a 19-year-old man accused of publicly exposing himself several times in La Quinta.
Christopher Duran Jr. of Thermal is charged with three counts each of incident exposure and attempted incident exposure, all misdemeanors, in connection with alleged crimes involving six female victims between last Nov. 28 and April 30.
The defendant was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at the Larson Justice Center in Indio, but failed to show up, prompting Riverside County Superior Court Judge Emily Benjamini to issued a bench warrant, court records show.
Duran had previously posted $5,000 bail.
Duran’s arrest was the culmination of an investigation spanning several months by deputies from the La Quinta Special Enforcement Team, which was looking into “a series of indecent exposure incidents that were occurring in the area of Avenue 58 and Madison Street,” according to Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. David Aldrich.
Deputies on May 5 spotted a vehicle based on victim descriptions and made a traffic stop in the same area where the crimes were reported and took Duran into custody, Aldrich said. He said the young was “positively identified” as the suspect, but did not elaborate.
The ages of the alleged victims were not disclosed.
