A 32-year-old man was fatally shot standing near his car in South Los Angeles Sunday.

The shooting happened about 12:40 p.m. outside 904 W. 81st St., Los Angeles police Officer David Orris said.

“Apparently, the man standing in front of his car when another car pulled up with two men inside and one of the men shot him,” Orris said.

The suspects fled the scene. No descriptions were available. A motive for the shooting was unknown but it could be gang-related.

The victim was transported to a hospital, where he later died, Orris said. His name was withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
