A 57-year-old motorcyclist was fatally injured during a crash with an SUV in Santa Ana, authorities said Sunday.

The victim was later identified as Cesar Augusto Paz of Santa Ana, according to the Orange County coroner’s office.

Officers dispatched a little before 7:20 p.m. Saturday to a traffic collision in the area of the 100 block of East Warner Avenue found Paz down in the roadway with “visible trauma,” the Santa Ana Police Department reported.

He was going west on Warner Avenue when he collided with a truck that was crossing the westbound lanes of Warner Avenue from an alley.

Paz was rushed to Orange County Global Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 8:06 p.m. Saturday, according to the coroner’s office.

The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and was cooperative. Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the crash, police said.
