At least one person was shot Friday afternoon in the Vermont Square area of South Los Angeles, reportedly during a funeral service.

The shooting occurred about 1:20 p.m. near West 50th and Hoover streets, according to Officer Mike Chan of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations section.

Chan could not immediately confirm an ABC7 report that the gunfire erupted during a funeral service and that two victims were shot.

Paramedics took three people to a hospital, one in critical condition and one in fair condition, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange, who did not have the condition of the third patient.

The suspect was at large as of 3 p.m., according to Chan.
