A man accused of gunning down a 29-year-old acquaintance in Meadowbrook is slated to be arraigned Friday in Riverside.

Stephen John Lindo, 29, of Meadowbrook was arrested Monday after he allegedly killed Michael Louis Hinden of Riverside.

Lindo is charged with first-degree murder and sentence-enhancing gun and great bodily injury allegations. He’s being held on $1 million bail at the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta and is scheduled for arraignment at the Riverside Hall of Justice.

According to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Rick Espinoza, about noon Monday, the defendant confronted Hinden with a handgun in the 22000 block of John Street, near the Palm View RV Park & Campground.

For reasons not disclosed, Lindo allegedly opened fire, fatally wounding the victim, Espinoza said.

He said witnesses called 911, and patrol deputies reached the location a short time later and found Hinden dead.

Lindo was taken into custody without incident at the scene.

The defendant and victim knew one another, but no details were released regarding the circumstances behind the alleged attack.

Lindo has no documented prior felony convictions in Riverside County.
