A search was underway for a hit-and-run driver who struck two pedestrians Friday morning in Desert Hot Springs, leaving them hospitalized with serious injuries.

The two women were walking northbound on Ocotillo Road at Acoma Avenue when a Honda CR-V — also traveling northbound — hit the pair about 4:15 a.m., then sped off, according to the Desert Hot Springs Police Department.

The victims, whose names and ages were not immediately released, were hospitalized in critical condition, police reported.

The suspect vehicle was last seen going northbound on Ocotillo Road toward Pierson Boulevard.

“The white Honda CR-V will have front-end and front passenger side damage with a missing passenger side mirror,” police said.

Anyone with information about the driver’s identity or whereabouts was urged to call Officer Greg Elias at 760-329-2904 ext. 373. Anonymous tipsters can call Crime Stoppers at 760-341-STOP.
