A 19-year-old gang member was arrested Thursday for allegedly pointing a loaded firearm at a minor then giving the minor the gun, which was recorded and posted on social media.
David Moreno, of La Quinta, was arrested during the serving of a search warrant at an apartment in the 47000 block of Dune Palms Road about 9:45 a.m. Thursday for felony child endangerment, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
The warrant was served by the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force, with assistance from the La Quinta Special Enforcement Team.
Authorities had seen videos on social media “depicting documented criminal street gang members and juveniles with firearms,” the sheriff’s department said. Moreno can allegedly be seen in the video pointing the gun at a minor, whose age was not released, and giving the gun to the minor.
Gang Task Force Officers also served a search warrant on Sept. 26 at the same apartment, and they located an AR-15 rifle, a 12-gauge shotgun, a 9mm semi-automatic handgun and a .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun, according to the sheriff’s department, which also found gang signs and markings.
Moreno was booked at the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio.
