A 61-year-old woman sitting on a bus bench in Long Beach was struck by a pickup truck and killed Friday.
Officers responded to a crash in the area of Seventh Street and Cherry Avenue about 2:40 p.m. and found two damaged vehicles and the woman down, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Paramedics were called to the scene and began administering medical aid, but the woman, a Long Beach resident, was declared dead at the scene, police said.
A preliminary investigation determined a 2017 BMW driven by a 38-year-old Long Beach resident crashed into a 2000 GMC, driven by a 69-year-old Fontana resident, causing the driver of the GMC to lose control of his pickup truck and strike the woman as she sat on the bus bench, police said.
Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Alcohol, drugs or distracted driving were not factors in the crash for either driver, according to police.
The name of the woman as not disclosed.
