A man was killed and a boy was wounded in a shooting in a residential portion of Artesia, authorities said Sunday.
The shooting occurred in the 11900 block of 168th Street at 11:45 p.m. Saturday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The location is about two blocks north of the Artesia (91) Freeway and about one block east of Pioneer Boulevard.
“Deputies from the Lakewood Sheriff’s Station responded to the location regarding a gunshot victim call,” Deputy Tracy Koerner said.
“Upon arrival, they discovered the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso. While at the location, they discovered a second victim.”
The second victim, a youth, had non-life-threatening injuries, she said, adding that it was unclear whether the victims are related. Both were taken to a hospital, where the man died.
