A man was killed and what the sheriff’s department only described as a second male was injured in a shooting Monday in East Los Angeles.

Authorities were called about 5:30 p.m. to the scene in the 5600 block of Via Corona Avenue, near East Beverly Boulevard.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The surviving victim was taken to a hospital, according to Deputy Morgan Arteaga of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Information on the extent of the injuries to the surviving victim was not immediately available.
