A 62-year-old man was fatally struck by a hit-and-run motorist on Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach, police said Friday.
The driver of a blue Honda Civic failed to yield to James Herbert Lee Jones as he was crossing Pacific Coast Highway at Harbor Avenue, in a marked crosswalk, on Dec. 22, police said. Officers dispatched to the scene at about 8:20 a.m. that day found the Long Beach resident unconscious in the roadway suffering from serious injuries. Paramedics rushed him to an area hospital and police were notified Thursday that he had died at the area hospital.
