A group of 50 to 75 teens caused a disturbance Saturday at the Del Amo Fashion Center in Torrance, overwhelming mall security and drawing officers from the Torrance Police Department and other South Bay agencies.
The disturbance started about 5 p.m. in the mall at 3525 W Carson St., said Torrance police Sgt. Alexander Martinez.
The teens were “running around” the mall, but no looting or vandalism was reported, Martinez said.
Officers helped mall security escort the teens out of the mall, although some lingered in the parking lots, he said. The teens were mostly gone by about 6:45 p.m.
Most stores closed when the disturbance started for the safety of their employees, Martinez said.
He was not certain whether the mall would reopen, as it was scheduled to close at 8 p.m.
