A convicted felon accused of pimping out a 19-year- old woman for illicit sexual services in Moreno Valley was charged Friday with human trafficking and other offenses.
Christian Scott Meeks, 32, of Moreno Valley was arrested Wednesday following an investigation by the Riverside County Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force, comprised of Riverside sheriff’s deputies, prosecutors and other area law enforcement personnel.
Along with the human trafficking count, Meeks is charged with pimping, domestic abuse, assault resulting in great bodily injury and unlawful deprivation of a person’s liberty.
He’s being held in lieu of $550,000 bail at the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside and is slated to make his initial court appearance Monday at the Riverside Hall of Justice.
According to sheriff’s Sgt. Robert Menchaca, the defendant was identified as the alleged overseer of a prostitution operation after the 19- year-old woman, whose name was withheld, sought help following several acts of physical abuse allegedly perpetrated by Meeks last year.
The length of time that the young woman was allegedly associated with the defendant was not disclosed.
During an undercover operation initiated in December, task force investigators began amassing evidence, with the victim’s assistance, and the defendant was taken into custody without incident after a traffic stop on Lassalle Street in Moreno Valley.
According to court records, Meeks has a prior conviction for grand theft.
