A 21-year-old Anaheim man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges related to a series of unprovoked attacks in Anaheim, including the attempted kidnapping of a 2-month-old child.
Kobe Bryan Vazquez was charged with one felony count of attempted kidnapping and five counts each of assault and battery and a count of resisting arrest, all misdemeanors.
At his arraignment in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana, Vazquez was ordered to return to court March 2 in the West Justice Center in Westminster.
About 12:25 p.m. on Feb. 10, Vazquez allegedly walked up to a man in his vehicle near Walnut Grove Park, pulled open the driver’s side door and assaulted him, said Anaheim Police Department Sgt. Shane Carringer.
Then Vazquez allegedly walked into the park and approached a couple and attempted to grab the baby from the infant’s mother’s arms, Carringer said. The father fended Vazquez off, Carringer said.
When officers arrived, Vazquez attempted to run away, Carringer said.
“Each of these attacks appear to be unprovoked,” Carringer said, adding that Vazquez did not know the victims.
