An investigation was underway Tuesday into the death of a homeless woman in El Monte.

Police responded about 3:45 p.m. Monday to a call of a woman not breathing in the 2300 block of Mountain View Road, near Peck Road, said Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, which was assisting El Monte police in the investigation.

The woman, identified by the coroner’s office as 33-year-old Erika Aguilar, was found seated in a wheelchair, Koerner said.

Aguilar was homeless, according to the coroner’s office, which reported that an autopsy was pending.
