A 17-year-old boy suspected of multiple store robberies in the San Jacinto Valley was behind bars Wednesday.

The teenager, a Homeland resident whose name was withheld because he is underage, was arrested and booked Tuesday into Southwest Juvenile Hall in Murrieta on suspicion of armed robbery.

According to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Brad Farwell, the robbery series began in the latter half of January and continued for roughly a month in San Jacinto and the Hemet area.

Detectives ultimately identified the teen as the alleged perpetrator and served search warrants at two properties — one in the 25000 block of Homeland Avenue in Homeland, and the other in the 44000 block of Alsace Lane, within the city of Hemet, Farwell said.

He said evidence was collected supporting the investigation, and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
