A 28-year-old woman accused of fatally shooting a security guard in Hollywood was arrested, authorities said Friday.

Stephanie Valle was taken into custody following a traffic stop Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Police said the vehicle she was driving was identified by investigators as being involved in the shooting death of 24-year-old Joshua Brown on Tuesday.

Police said Brown was in his personal vehicle working as a security guard about 6:20 a.m. “when he observed possible theft suspects.” He then followed Valle to Orange Drive and Sunset Boulevard, near Hollywood High School, where he confronted her about a suspected theft.

During the confrontation, Valle shot Brown, police alleged.

Officers arrived to find him inside his vehicle with a gunshot wound to the chest, police said.

Witnesses told police he had been arguing with someone before shots rang out.

“A shot was heard and the victim got back into his vehicle,” according to an earlier LAPD statement. “The woman walked away, heading east on Sunset Boulevard.”

Valle was being held on $2 million bail.
