A man driving a Honda Odyssey Thursday evening in Placentia was suspected of trying to lure a young girl into his vehicle by claiming he had her father’s lost credit card.
The incident took place in the 1500 block of Collins Way about 6:40 p.m., Placentia Police Department Lt. Adam Gloe said.
The girl told police she was walking her dog and stopped in her front yard when the man pulled up, Gloe said. The man yelled out asking if her father was home and said he had his credit card.
The girl said she walked to the front door and pretended to call for her father. The girl then told the driver her father wasn’t home and he should come back later.
The driver then left the scene on Collins Way headed towards East Palm Drive, Gloe continued.
He did not get out of the vehicle or make any suspicious movements or gestures, Gloe said.
Her parents told police that the girl’s father did not lose any credit cards, Gloe said.
The man was described as about 40 years old, Black or Middle Eastern, bald and wearing a red shirt, Gloe said. His vehicle was described as a 2005-2007 Honda Odyssey. A photo of the vehicle is available from Placentia police at 714-993-8151.
Anyone with information on this driver was asked to call Placentia police Detective Heinzel at 714-993-8169. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS.
