A woman and her dog were stabbed to death Thursday near a San Dimas park and a suspect was taken into custody.
The attack occurred in the 1400 block of Renwick Street near Lone Hill Park about 1:35 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The victim, whose name and age were not immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A motive for the attack was unclear.
Tony Page told CBS2 that his son-in-law was the initial target but said he was able to retreat safely to his car. That’s when the suspect turned his attention to the woman who was walking her dog down the street, he said.
“The guy started attacking the lady who was walking her dog, started killing the dog with the knife, then turned the knife on her and started killing her,” Page told Channel 2.
Page said his son-in-law got out of his vehicle and threw a rock at the suspect, rendering him unconscious.
The suspect’s name was not immediately released.
