A 28-year-old Lake Elsinore man accused of sexually assaulting a girl was charged Tuesday with forcible rape and other offenses.

Christian Javier Ramirez Padilla was arrested Friday following a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department investigation into the alleged 2020 attack.

Along with the rape count, Padilla is charged with lewd acts on a minor, unlawful intercourse and possession of child pornography.

Padilla is being held in lieu of $1 million bail at the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta and is slated to make his initial court appearance at the Southwest Justice Center Thursday.

According to sheriff’s Sgt. Julio Olguin, deputies were informed about the alleged assault earlier this year. The victim, identified in court documents only as “E.G.,” told investigators the attack occurred June 12.

Padilla encountered the girl at a residence in the 39000 block of Ardenwood Way, near Highway 74, and forced himself on her over an unspecified period, Olguin said.

It was unclear why the alleged offenses weren’t immediately reported, and no information was disclosed regarding how Padilla and the victim were acquainted.

Detectives obtained evidence that culminated in the issuance of an arrest warrant, which they served on Padilla after he stopped on Central Avenue in Lake Elsinore, according to Olguin.

Padilla has no documented prior felony convictions in Riverside County.
