A 42-year-old woman suspected of shooting at her ex-boyfriend during a child custody dispute in Moreno Valley was being held Wednesday in lieu of $500,000 bail.

Donata Marquel Hardy of Moreno Valley was booked into the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside Tuesday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, child endangerment and making terrorist threats.

According to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Nathan Kaas, Hardy’s ex-partner came to her residence in the 2300 block of Breezy Way to retrieve a child over whom the suspect and victim have shared custody when a confrontation erupted about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Hardy fired at least one shot during the encounter, Kaas alleged.

He said the victim, whose name was withheld, immediately backed off and called 911. The man was not injured.

The sergeant said the neighborhood was briefly placed on lockdown, and three children were safely removed from the property.

Hardy was questioned and ultimately arrested and taken to jail.

There was no word on whether the children were placed in protective custody or released to family members.
