A 58-year-old man employed by the Huntington Beach City School District was in custody Friday after being arrested in Huntington Beach for allegedly engaging in lewd acts with several minors.

However, authorities said no students were victimized by the suspect.

The Huntington Beach Police Department began investigating Charles Jacques in March following allegations that he had engaged in lewd acts with a minor on multiple occasions, said Lt. Brian Smith.

Detectives identified additional victims throughout their investigation.

Jacques was taken into custody at about 10:15 a.m. Thursday on charges of forced oral copulation with a minor through force or fear, lewd acts with a minor under the age of 14, lewd acts with a minor and child annoyance, Smith said. His bail was set at $2 million.

Jacques was employed by the Huntington City School District at the time of his arrest, though no students were identified among his victims, Smith said. Authorities did not disclose what job was held by the suspect.

Anyone with information regarding other possible victims can contact HBPD Detective T. Emanuel at 714-536-5977.
