Murder and attempted murder charges were filed Wednesday against a 39-year-old Anaheim resident accused of gunning down a man and threatening to kill a female relative of the victim last weekend.
Fernando Padilla Garcia, who also faces sentencing enhancement allegations for the personal use of a firearm, was arrested about 10:30 p.m. Monday in a vehicle in San Bernardino near the 215 Freeway and Baseline Road, according to Sgt. Shane Carringer of the Anaheim Police Department.
Garcia, who’s being held on $1 million bail, is accused of killing 34-year-old Francisco Villagomez of Anaheim about 7 p.m. Sunday in the courtyard of an apartment complex in the 200 block of East Clifton Street, Carringer said. Villagomez was pronounced dead at the scene.
Garcia also pointed the gun at a family member of the victim and attempted to shoot her, as well, Carringer alleged.
Police have not released a motive for the shooting.
