Police Thursday circulated a photo of a 22-year-old man being sought for his alleged involvement in a Mother’s Day shooting in Indio that left a teenage boy critically wounded.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Tasaun Thomas, who should be considered armed and dangerous, according to police.

Indio Police Department spokesman Ben Guitron said Thomas is wanted on suspicion of attempted murder, but stopped short of saying the suspect is accused of firing the gunshots that injured the 15-year-old victim about 4 p.m. Sunday in the area of Daisy Street and John Nobles Avenue.

“At this point in time, we just know he is involved,” Guitron said, adding that detectives are looking at other suspects, as well.

Police responded to a shooting report and found the injured teen at the location. Detectives learned that multiple suspects fled the scene in a four-door sedan.

The boy, whose name was withheld, was taken to an area hospital suffering from injuries described as serious and was still listed in critical condition as of Thursday morning.

Thomas is described as Black, 5-foot-7 and 170 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information about his whereabouts was asked to call the detectives working the case at 760-391-4057. Anonymous information can be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 760-341-STOP (7867).
