One of two documented gang members accused of holding a man at gunpoint and beating him up in the unincorporated community of Oasis 2 1/2 months ago is scheduled to make his initial court appearance Monday.
Albin Docnal Tadeo, 25, and Diego Marquez Martinez, 24, both of Oasis, were arrested Wednesday stemming from the assault reported in March.
Tadeo, who remains held without bail at the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio, is scheduled to be arraigned Monday afternoon at the Banning Justice Center.
Martinez posted $55,000 bond and is set to appear in court in October, jail records show.
Tadeo and Martinez are charged with one count each of assault with a gun and assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury. Tadeo was also charged with witness intimation, while Martinez was charged with one count of robbery.
A third gang member — Jesus Garcia Rodriguez, 18, of Oasis — was also arrested last week, but was not charged by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office. It was not immediately clear why.
According to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Mariano Matos III, the suspects were arrested during the execution of three search warrants in Coachella.
They were sought in connection to an assault reported March 26 in Oasis in which a man was held at gunpoint and assaulted — why was unclear. He was identified in court papers only as “Daniel H.”
The victim suffered injuries described as major, according to the sheriff’s department.
