A 33-year-old Garden Grove probationer was charged Tuesday with raping his live-in girlfriend.
James Vincent Lehman is facing two counts of corporal injury on a cohabitant, and one count each of assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, rape, sodomy by force and criminal threats, all felonies.
Lehman, who’s being held on $500,000 bail, is accused of attacking the victim on May 10 and on Sunday, according to court records.
Officers were dispatched Sunday about 1:35 a.m. to the 7700 block of Chapman Avenue after the woman, whose name was withheld, called police to allege that the defendant had sexually assaulted her, according to Garden Grove police.
The woman told police the suspect was still in the apartment, and when officers arrived Lehman initially refused to come out but eventually surrendered, police said.
She was taken to an area hospital to be treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said.
Lehman was on five years of probation at the time of his arrest. He was found guilty of drunken driving in September of last year, according to court records.
