A wild chase on a runway at LAX after a suspect breached an anti-terrorist security fence and drove onto airport grounds has ended with the alleged driver in custody Friday.

The man, driving a silver four-door car with what appeared to be the letters “SOS” written on the hood, breached the fence at the FedEx cargo facility near the 5900 block of West Imperial Highway, according to reports from the scene.

There was no indication the driver was involved in terrorism, and there was no immediate word of a motive.

The man led police on a brief pursuit on the runway Thursday before being taken into custody. The man’s name was not immediately released.

A portion of the runway was closed as Los Angeles Airport Police officers investigated the breach, CBS2 reported.

There was no immediate word of how the suspect managed to bypass extensive security at Los Angeles International Airport that has been increasingly beefed up after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
