A 30-year-old man was killed and the 36-year-old woman riding a motorcycle with him was injured when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a car on Sunset Boulevard, authorities said Friday.
The 2:15 p.m. Thursday crash occurred at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Glenroy Avenue, near UCLA, according to Los Angeles Police Department traffic investigators.
The motorcycle was westbound in the left lane when the motorcyclist lost control, struck something in the roadway and then crashed into an eastbound Volvo, police said.
The man and woman, both from Sacramento, were ejected from the motorcycle and hit the pavement, police said.
Paramedics took both the man and woman to a hospital, where the man was pronounced dead and the woman was treated for her injuries, according to police.
The woman driving the Volvo called for help and remained at the scene, investigators said.
The crash was under investigation, with drug or alcohol impairment still to be determined, police said.
Anyone with information was asked to call West Traffic detectives at 213-473-0234.
