Officers seized an estimated 300 pounds of illegal fireworks and issued 25 citations in Riverside during the Fourth of July holiday, police said Monday.
One person was also arrested for possessing a loaded firearm, according to the Riverside Police Department.
Officers teamed up with Riverside Code Enforcement Division to crack down on fireworks, which are illegal in the city.
Police said the Fireworks Taskforce has issued 31 citations and seized an estimated 400 pounds of illegal fireworks so far this year.
“Riverside has been working diligently over the past six years to reduce the usage of fireworks in the city,” Sgt. Ryan Wilson said. “In addition to potentially causing vegetation and structure fires, they can also cause injuries and create stress.”
