A 24-year-old man was behind bars Tuesday on charges of stabbing his friend during a fight in Buena Park.
Bryan Paul Augustin was charged Monday with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, with sentencing enhancement allegations of inflicting great bodily injury on the victim, personal use of a deadly weapon and attempted premeditated murder, according to court records.
Augustin and his 22-year-old friend got into a fight at Smith-Murphy Park at 5290 Cameron Drive on Thursday, Buena Park police Sgt. Mario Escamilla said.
During the scuffle, Augustin allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed his friend multiple times, Escamilla said. The victim was taken to an area hospital be treated for non-life-threatening injuries and was released later that day, the sergeant said.
Augustin, who is being held on $1 million bail, made his initial court appearance Monday in the Central Jail courtroom, but his arraignment was rescheduled for July 28.
