Nearly 80 dogs crammed into cages and trailers on a Winchester property were seized Wednesday by Riverside County animal control officers.
The seizure order was served just after 8 a.m. on Beeler Road, just north of Simpson Road, according to the Department of Animal Services.
Agency spokesman John Welsh said the property had been under investigation for an unspecified period, culminating in the order being obtained and executed.
Over a roughly two-hour span, the dogs were loaded onto trucks for transportation to county shelters for evaluation and treatment.
There was no immediate word on whether the property owner, whose identity was not disclosed, was arrested or cited for alleged animal abuse and neglect.
