Two men arrested in connection with a shooting in a residential neighborhood in Jurupa Valley remained behind bars Saturday.
The shooting was reported at 4:14 p.m. on Sept. 14 in the 5500 block of 42nd Street, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they found bullet casings and residential damage caused by the fired bullets, sheriff’s officials said.
Authorities did not provide further details about the shooting, including whether anyone was injured.
Investigators later identified the suspects as Tony Merendon, 41, and Jerry Hernandez, 45, both residents of Jurupa Valley and documented gang members, authorities said.
According to sheriff’s officials, Hernandez was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Merendon was arrested last week and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of shooting at an occupied vehicle and multiple felony warrants. He remained jailed without bail.
