Four people, including two children, were hospitalized after a crash caused by a suspected drunk driver in Desert Hot Springs early Sunday morning.

The collision was reported at 2:31 a.m., according to the Desert Hot Springs Police Department.

Investigators said a white Lexus driven by a 21-year-old man from Desert Hot Springs was westbound on 20th Street when it ran a stop sign and broadsided a white Chevrolet southbound on Palm Drive.

A 36-year-old woman from Thousand Palms was behind the wheel of the Chevrolet and was accompanied by and her two children, according to police.

The driver of the Lexus — whose name was not released — suffered major injuries in the crash and was taken to a hospital, police said.

The driver of the Chevrolet and her children were also taken to a hospital after they complained of pain.

Police said alcohol appears to have played a role in the crash, though no arrests were reported as of Sunday afternoon.
