A Los Angeles Police Department officer was shot and wounded Thursday in the south Los Angeles area, and a possible suspect was taken into custody by police, authorities said.
The shooting was reported about 5 a.m. near Central Avenue and 34th Street, said LAPD Officer Lizeth Lomeli. The officer was taken to a hospital in an unknown condition, Lomeli said.
Officers established a perimeter in the area and took a possible suspect into custody, Lomeli said. Other details were not released by police.
According to Fox11, the officer was driving to work at the LAPD’s Newton Station in a pickup when he suffered a graze wound to his head, and police took a 14-year-old boy into custody who was in possession of a gun.
