The officer was taken to a hospital in an unknown condition, said LAPD Officer Lizeth Lomeli.
LAPD officers were called at 5 a.m. to Central Avenue and 34th Street where they have established a perimeter and are searching for the shooter, Lomeli said.
A person was taken into custody during the standoff but Lomeli could not confirm if the person was the shooter.
