A 23-year-old woman is behind bars Friday on suspicion of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter after getting into a collision with a motorcyclist, killing him at the scene.
Mia Janae Perry of Rialto was arrested after the 10 p.m. Thursday collision when she tried to cross Pierson Boulevard at Highway 62 but failed to yield to cross traffic, causing man riding a Harley-Davidson to fatally crash into her Toyota Solara, according to the Desert Hot Springs Police Department.
The victim was identified as 55-year-old Jon Sherwood, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Coroner Office.
Perry was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio on suspicion of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter and remains held on $50,000 bail.
Jail records show she is expected to make her initial court appearance at the Larson Justice Center on Tuesday.
