A woman is hospitalized Wednesday after being shot while delivering food in her car in La Mirada.
The victim was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange and was reportedly treated for gunshot wounds, said Sgt. Rodney Gutierrez of the Los Angeles County Sheriffs’ Department’s Norwalk Station.
The woman told deputies from the Norwalk Station at approximately 11:40 p.m. Tuesday she was delivering food for DoorDash in La Mirada and had been followed for several blocks by a silver sedan. When she delivered an order in the 13000 block of El Moro near Foster Road, the suspects allegedly fired at her several times and struck her in the abdomen, Gutierrez said.
The victim was able to drive to Buena Park in Orange County and call deputies. The suspects drove away, westbound on Foster Road.
Gutierrez said there was an earlier shooting at approximately 6:15 p.m. Tuesday near Telegraph and Colima roads in South Whittier involving a silver sedan, which followed a victim’s vehicle for several blocks before ramming them from the back, shattering the victim’s back window and shooting at the victim.
“We think it might have been the same people, possibly a local gang,” Gutierrez told City News Service.
No one was hurt in the second shooting and police have no descriptions of the suspects.
