Felony charges are expected to be filed Friday against a 19-year-old man suspected of stabbing and seriously wounding an acquaintance at his Norco home.

Ethan Robert Melnikoff of Riverside was arrested and booked Wednesday into the Robert Presley Jail on suspicion of attempted murder for the alleged attack days earlier in the 1600 block of Valley View Avenue.

Melnikoff is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

According to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Aaron Avila, about 3 a.m. Saturday, the suspect was involved in an unspecified dispute with the victim, whose identity was not released.

During the confrontation, Melnikoff allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed the man multiple times, Avila said.

Deputies were called to the location minutes later and found the victim in critical condition. He was taken to a hospital for surgery and is expected to recover, according to the sergeant.

He said that the assailant had fled the scene, but over the ensuing three days, detectives confirmed that Melnikoff was the alleged perpetrator.

He was taken into custody without incident at a property on Edegewood Place in Riverside.

Background information on the suspect was not available.
