A fugitive accused of stabbing his girlfriend to death in a Corona home was arrested in Nevada and was awaiting extradition to Riverside County Wednesday, police said.

Jeremy Pearson, 37, of Corona was taken into custody Tuesday morning in Sparks, Nevada, after a judge issued a warrant for his arrest, according to the Corona Police Department.

Investigators said they identified Pearson as the sole suspect in the slaying of 39-year-old Cassandra Tomes, who was discovered dead from multiple stab wounds when officers responded to an assault with injuries call Monday afternoon at a home in the 1500 block of Rimpau Avenue.

Pearson was being held in a Washoe County jail in Nevada pending his extradition to California, police said.
