A 78-year-old man is missing in Los Angeles and authorities Wednesday are asking for the public’s help in finding him.

The California Highway Patrol, on behalf of the Los Angeles Police Department, has activated a Silver Alert after William Mortimer went missing Tuesday at approximately 5:25 p.m. He was last seen near North Heliotrope Drive and Santa Monica Boulevard near East Hollywood, according to the CHP.

Mortimer is white, 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighs 150 pounds, has gray hair and hazel eyes. He is believed to be wearing a gray hoodie, black sweatpants and white tennis shoes.

Anyone who has seen Mortimer or knows of his whereabouts is asked to call 911.

The Silver Alert program was established by the CHP to issue and coordinate alerts involving the unexplained or suspicious disappearance of elderly, developmentally disabled or cognitively impaired individuals.
