A man and woman were behind bars Monday on suspicion of shooting from a Santa Ana apartment complex at a passing car, injuring a mom driving by with her two daughters in the backseat.
Anthony Valencia, 26, was arrested Friday and 29-year-old Veronica Flores was arrested Sunday, according to Santa Ana police Cpl. Maria Lopez.
The Dec. 8 shooting was caught on surveillance video, Lopez said.
The video shows gunfire over a wall at an apartment complex in the 600 block of South Sullivan Street, Lopez said. They appear to be aiming at a passing red SUV, but they strike the innocent victim going in the other direction, Lopez said.
The 33-year-old woman was shot in the left part of her chest, pulled over and called 911, Lopez said. Her two daughters, both younger than 10, were in the car but avoided injury, Lopez said.
The victim was hospitalized for about six days, Lopez said.
The nature of the relationship of the suspects was not immediately clear, Lopez said.
