Authorities Thursday announced the arrest of a 54-year-old homeless man who allegedly fatally shot another man in Long Beach.

Officers on patrol found Abelardo Ramirez Bonilla, 46, sitting with gunshot wounds to his head in a parked car about 9:25 p.m. Saturday in the area of 72nd Street and Atlantic Place, according to Long Beach Police Lt. Joe Flores.

Firefighters pronounced Bonilla dead at the scene.

LBPD detectives investigated the shooting and identified Luis Barrios as the suspect, according to a department statement. Barrios was arrested Thursday during a traffic stop in the area of 72nd Street and Orange Avenue and was booked into Long Beach Police Department jail, where his bail was set at $2.05 million.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing, though detectives believe the shooting stemmed from an “ongoing personal dispute” between Bonilla and Barrios, according to the LBPD.
