An armed suspect who shot a bicycle rider along a Sunset Beach greenbelt was shot by Huntington Beach police officers Monday, authorities said.
Police responded to a report of a shooting just after 12:20 p.m. Monday at Third Street and South Pacific Avenue in Sunset Beach, said Jennifer Carey of the Huntington Beach Police Department.
When officers arrived they found the armed man, and at least one officer opened fire, striking the suspect, Carey said. The suspect did not comply with multiple commands before he was shot, Carey said.

It does not appear the victim and suspect were previously acquainted, police said. The victim was found a few blocks north of where the suspect was taken into custody.
No officers were injured.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department will investigate the police shooting.
Anyone with information relevant to investigators was asked to call Orange County Crime Stoppers, which will accept anonymous tips, at 855-TIP-OCCS.
