A former Westminster Police Department civilian investigator was charged Tuesday with putting in $12,000 in bogus requests for overtime.

Nadia Arlett Alvarez Poblete, 26, of Huntington Beach, was charged with a count of grand theft by an employee and 14 counts of presenting a false claim, all felonies. She could face up to 12 years and four months in prison if convicted.

The defendant altered time sheets to show she worked twice the amount of hours she actually put in, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office alleged.

Prosecutors alleged she was paid for 566 hours she did not work between Jan. 6 last year and Oct. 22, totaling up $12,106.74 in bogus overtime claims.
