A 53-year-old man was arraigned Wednesday on charges of attempted murder for allegedly shooting a man and at his wife in Santa Ana.

Jose Martinez Martinez did not enter a plea at his arraignment in the jail courtroom of Santa Ana. He was ordered to return to court Feb. 18 for a rescheduled arraignment.

Martinez was accused of shooting a man in the upper chest area and shooting at his wife, who was not wounded, according to Santa Ana Police Department Cpl. Maria Lopez.

Martinez later turned himself in, Lopez said.

Martinez was charged with two counts of attempted murder and one count of assault with a firearm with sentencing enhancements for discharge of a firearm, attempted premeditated murder, discharge of a firearm causing treat bodily injury.
